This panel aims to address, from a strengths-based perspective, the challenges faced by first-generation graduate students and scholars in navigating the “hidden curriculum” - the informal knowledge, expectations, and behaviors that are not explicitly taught but are crucial for success in our field. The panelists will discuss scholarships, grants, and other resources for career advancement, give tips for building mentorship and support networks, and offer advice on how to better navigate the complexities of grad school, professional development, and career planning.
