Session Submission Type: Roundtable
As we have moved into the 21st century and have undergone many social and technological advances women have been able to make strides but also have continued to encounter obstacles. In this session diverse scholars will engage in a multi-faceted discussion about the various challenges that women endure. From the status of Black maternal health to how women politicians juggle being both parents and elected officials and what this mean for their representation style with the inclusion of a discussion that explores the creativity of women who are sex workers and the challenges they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Scholars will share their research and demonstrate the ways in which political institutions and politicians are both complicit in perpetuating the challenges women encounter but can also be avenues for solutions to provide some reprieve.
