Whether or not a person participates in elections is influenced by a range of factors. Rules, regulations, and compliance issues can complicate the process for voters in certain areas. The relationship between education, gender, and race and voting can vary based on state and local contexts. Innovative methods are being proposed and implemented to persuade young voters, especially, to get to the polls. At the same time, the traditional notion of the nonvoter as unengaged is being challenged.
