In this article, I utilize primary elections to estimate how the behavior of representatives responds to changes in electoral incentives for upcoming elections. Specifically, I assess differences in various post-primary legislative behavior among U.S. House Representatives from 1954 to 2022. Most notably, the outcomes show that electoral incentives induce legislators' party-line stance but are not significantly related to ideological polarization.
