In this study, We carry out an impact analysis of the recent wave of military coups on regional stability and integration in the West African subregion. We also explore the proximate and distal factors resulting in these military coups. We take a neoliberal institutionalist perspective by examining ECOWAS intervention to the military coups and the efficacy of such intervention. Consequently, We gather our data using a mixed method of both qualitative and quantitative methodology. Furthermore, we review various articles and scholarly works with a view to identifying gaps in literature that strengthens this study, and finally, we examine the broader impact of the West African situation to other regions in Africa.
