This paper explores the symbiotic relationship between civic engagement and media literacy in the context of modern society. As we navigate an information-rich digital landscape, the ability to critically assess, interpret, and create media content is paramount for informed civic participation. Our study delves into the multifaceted dimensions of this relationship, emphasizing the role of media literacy as a catalyst for more active and responsible citizenry. We investigate the impact of media literacy on individual and collective civic engagement, shedding light on the potential mechanisms for fostering a participatory democracy. By presenting a synthesis of current research, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these two elements converge and how their synergy can empower citizens to make informed decisions and contribute to the betterment of society. This paper ultimately seeks to offer insights and recommendations for policymakers, educators, and media practitioners to promote media literacy as a cornerstone of effective civic engagement in the digital age.
