Session Submission Type: Panel Session
This panel brings together three papers all dealing with instance of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust. All three center specifically Jewish resistance as a way of arguing against notions of Jewish "passivity" and demonstrating the myriad types of agency Jews actually performed across Europe. Whether in hiding in the Netherlands, rescuing fellow Jews in France, or resisting the Reich from within, the Jewish actors addressed in these papers all sought to defend their humanity and identity on a regular basis. Importantly, the papers also center gender as a major contributor in resistance efforts.
