This session includes three papers describing Jewish responses to catastrophe. The first paper assesses Jewish life in Ukraine during the present war with Russia. The second paper examines narratives of Jewish parents in California helping their children cope with the aftermath of the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel. The third paper asks whether the friendships of Jewish and Muslim women in the UK can survive the aftermath of October 7.
