Abstract

This panel includes three papers describing different forms of social upheaval taking place in Israel. The first paper examines the expectations and experiences of Baalei Teshuva and their children. The second paper focuses on violent Orthodox and secular men in Israel and their concept of masculinity. The third paper describes the experience of a gap year in Israel for American Jewish students and how it affects their Jewish identities.
