Session Submission Type: Panel Session
This session includes three distinct explorations of Jewish religious life. The first paper is a cultural history of the Shabbat kiddush ritual in shaping synagogue communities. The second paper shatters gender norms in presenting the pilgrimage to the shrine of Rebbe Nachman of Bratslav as a feminine rite. The third paper is an auto-ethnography of non-Orthodox synagogue life in Israel.
