Recent research has begun to explore the complexities of religious disaffiliation from Orthodox Judaism. Although most of these studies focus on identifying reasons for leaving, fewer investigations have attempted to describe the contextual factors that affect disaffiliation and the various trajectories followed by exiters after leaving their communities. This panel discussion addresses the social, familial, and experiential factors that affect how disaffiliation unfolds for exiters from the Jewish Orthodox community.
