The paper will address Jewish migration from Argentina to Israel (aliyah) between the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2020 and the effects of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023. According to the public data available from the Jewish Agency for Israel, during 2021 and 2022, the number of Argentinean Jewish emigrants to Israel doubled the quantity from previous years. During 2023 the numbers returned to pre-pandemic times. Partial results of a survey conducted on migrants who emigrated between 2022 and 2024 in the framework of the Jewish Agency for Israel in Buenos Aires will be analyzed. This social science research is centered in the fields of Jewish Latin American studies and migration studies. The work will focus on three main issues. First, a characterization of this migration process during the recent years. Migration to Israel is a central subject in Jewish studies and the study of the aliyah from Argentina is a question of great interest in a wide range of fields, particularly in Latin American Jewish studies. Second, an analysis of the migrants’ profiles considering dimensions such as socio-demographic characteristics, Jewish socialization, relations with Israel, and the aliyah process. Third, the effects of historical disruptive events on migration processes, particularly on individual trajectories and biographies.
